Daniel Herrera

“When Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen produced in 1895 the first X-ray photograph of his wife’s hand, he certainly revolutionized science and medicine. At the dentist, in the E.R., we take for granted the ability of seeing through the flesh the ghostly shadow of our skeleton, and we forget how miraculous this should have been for the first doctors empowered by this prodigious tool. Other kind of doctors, the disciples of Freud, are however barred from the same kind of technological miracle: there is no X-ray apparatus able to penetrate the flesh and ignore the bones, to capture the elusive states of our soul. That is, until you find Daniel Herrera‘s photoblog. Browse through his gallery of portraits and you’ll find how the physical features of his subjects lose their literal meaning, become transparent to the camera and let Daniel capture their emotive state. ”
