Sony just had a successful release of one of its premiered games. More than four years after the original, God of War gets the much-awaited sequel in God of War: Ragnarok. GoW: Ragnarok was released on November 9, 2022, and was positively received by critics and the gaming community. It is safe to say it lived up to the hype and exceeded expectations. But, since it’s a Sony-exclusive title, God of War: Ragnarok was only released on the PlayStation 4 and 5. However, the first installment to this beloved franchise got the opportunity to be ported for PC gamers after four years since it was conceived. This leaves us with the question – When will God of War: Ragnarok come to PC? Plus, what are God of War: Ragnarok’s basic PC requirements so my computer can run smoothly? We will answer all of that for you in this article.

God of War: Ragnarok on PC possible release date
God of War was released for PlayStation 4 on August 20, 2018. It was until January 14, 2022, that fans of Kratos were able to embark on his epic God-slaying adventures on PC. That’s almost four years of waiting which is roughly the estimated time for PlayStation games before they get an official release on PC.
Although there is no official announcement from Sony that GoW: Ragnarok will be arriving on PC soon, the chances of it becoming true are very high. Since Sony is highly committed to offering AAA titles to PC releases such as Days Gone, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted, and the two Marvel’s Spider-Man: Morales games, there’s a great possibility of Ragnarok will join this club. Additionally, according to PlayStation Studios’ head Hermen Hulst, we could be seeing popular PlayStation games receive a port on PC at least a year after their release.
“Going forward we’ll see at least a year between releases on PlayStation and on the PC platform, possibly with the exception of live service games.”
That being said, there’s a possibility that GoW: Ragnarok may grace us with its presence on PC come November 9, 2023, at the earliest. However, November 2023 could be the timeframe when Sony puts GoW: Ragnarok on PS Plus. This means the PC version’s release window could be moved sometime in the first quarter of 2024. It was hinted at by one of the executives at PlayStation but let’s not get our hopes too high yet.
Why we think Sony is already working on the God of War: Ragnarok PC version:
First of all, God of War: Ragnarok was a huge success, winning 6 awards and a Game of the Year trophy along the way. With its popularity, fans of GoW: Ragnarok is now very excited about the game’s PC version and can’t wait for it to come out. Furthermore, the PC version of God of War (2018) was a huge hit in 2022.

The main reason why we think the developers are already working on porting God of War: Ragnarok to PC is because of two things: First, Sony specifically wanted the team behind the game to work on the PC porting process after the PlayStation release in order not to compromise the quality. Well, it has been five months since it was released and it is safe to assume Sony has already started the process of making a PC version. Second, they have learned a lot of things while making the PC ports for God of War (2018). According to reports, GoW: Ragnarok was already designed to be easily ported to PC.

Why the RX5700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 is the recommended graphics card?

The answer lies behind PlayStation 5‘s own GPU: AMD Radeon™ RDNA 2-based graphics engine. PS5’s GPU is almost similar to Ryzen’s RX5700 XT, which was only released in 2019. Released in that same year, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 – while may be a cheaper choice – can be on par with RX5700 XT’s performance.
