Oniyide Azeez (born November 21, 1999) is a trailblazing artiste in Nigeria’s Street Pop music scene. The talented rapper, singer and songwriter is known professionally as Zinoleesky.

He came to the limelight in 2017 after his freestyle rap videos went viral on the internet. He bagged a record deal with Marlian Music in 2019 and has released a commercial successful Extended Play titled Chrome.

Early Life

Zinoleesky was born to the Muslim family of Mr and Mrs Azeez on the 21st of November 1999. He was born in the Mainland district of Lagos city and spent his formative years residing in Agege Local Government Area.

His parents named him Oniyide Azeez eight days after his birth. He was raised in the Muslim faith and learned how to read and recite the Qu’ran from an early age. By the time he was a teenager, he had completed reading all the chapters of the holy book.

Zinoleesky and music go way back to when he was still a young boy. He grew up being influenced by Afrobeats, Highlife, Pop, Juju, and Fuji sounds. And listening to songs from these genres fostered Zinoleesky‘s desire to make music.

He started to rap as a teenager, making songs that spoke about the challenges he faced and the ills in his society.

The Ogun State indigene Oniyide Azeez subsequently known as Zinoleesky is a 23 years old Nigerian musical artist.

Career

As a high school student, Zinoleesky actively made music. He was known for thrilling his classmates with freestyle rap songs. Moreso, he always performed at school events and competed in different talent shows in Lagos.

He decided to pursue a professional music career after graduating from high school. He began visiting studios in his community to record songs he had written at home. In no time, he became a popular face in the Agege Music Community and was often invited to perform at events held in the city.

To foster the growth of his career, Zinoleesky began to record and post freestyle rap videos on social media. In most cases, he would rap to the instrumentals of popular songs or do the covers of trendy singles in the country. Gradually, he was able to build an audience on social media, as many lovers of Afrobeats and Streep Pop sounds appreciated his works.

As the weeks advanced, Zinoleesky became a force to reckon with in the underground rap community, as most of his rap videos were going viral and generating massive engagement on the social media app – Instagram. The young Agege artiste had grown a large fanbase in a short while.

Fortune finally smiled on Zinoleesky, and he began to receive collaboration requests from established acts. In 2019, he was offered a record deal by the DMW label, owned by Davido. However, he rejected the offer and chose to remain an independent artist for a while.

He climbed to the music industry’s peak after bagging a record deal with Marlian Music, founded by rapper Naira Marley. At the Marlian Fest in December 2019, Naira Marley announced to his fans that he was setting up his own record label. He revealed that Zinoleesky and three other acts –MohbadC Blvck and Fabian Blu– had been signed to the music imprint.

Since he joined the Marlian Music family, he has recorded different success stories in the industry. He has collaborated with both established and upcoming artists to release hit Afrobeats songs. He raps in English, Pidgin English and Yoruba.

Zinoleesky wrote his name in gold in the Street Pop scene by dropping the commercially successful EP, Chrome. The Extended Play is a 6-track project composed of the following party jam songs: KilofesheAngeliWo Wa MiMa PariwoNi Tori E and Bullet.

He appeared as a featured artist on Lil Kesh‘s single, Don’t Call Me, which was released in December 2021. The single has topped several music charts since its release.
